| Blast Off with Books from YOUR library! |
Johnson Elementary houses a 3,100 sq. ft. carpeted media center. Our computers are networked for Internet access, Accelerated Reader, STAR, and Destiny (click to enter) online card catalog. Our computer technologist, Holly Roberts, tapes two fifth graders who provide students and staff with daily announcements, the pledge, a moment of silence, and "something (positive) to think about". (see Photo Album). The current collection of media resources exceeds 10,000 books, magazines, videos, CDs, DVDs, and audiocassettes. The collection is continually growing and changing as teachers and students request new titles. Many titles become outdated or damaged and those are replaced with new ones. In past years, our library has been allocated money from the State Department to purchase library resources and student computers. We have not received money from the State Department, due to the recession, for two years. We will continue to rely on donations and our fall Book Fair to maintain the library and purchase new resources.
