Johnson Elementary houses a 3,100 sq. ft. carpeted media center. Our computers are networked for Internet access, Accelerated Reader, STAR, and Destiny (click to enter) online card catalog. You may click on the word Destiny and click Johnson Elementary Library to view our collection of resources that students may borrow. Students do not have access to our videos or the Professional collection. The current collection of media resources exceeds 10,000 books, videos, CDs, DVDs, and audiocassettes.  The collection is continually growing and changing as teachers and students request new titles. Many titles become outdated or damaged and those are replaced with new ones. In past years, our library has been allocated money from the State Department to purchase library resources and student computers. For the past several years, we have not received money from the State Department, due to the recession, so we continue to rely on donations and the Book Fair fund raiser to maintain the library and purchase new resources. Representative Dan Williams has supported JES library and the education of our students for the past several years. Without his generosity, we would not have new resources and educational workshops for our students and teachers. Recently, Representative Dan Williams funded nonfiction author and science enthusiast, Heather Montgomery, (click her name to see website) to spend two full days at JES! We learned so much and had much fun with Mrs. Montgomery.
