I attended Eastwood Elementary, Oak Park Middle and Decatur High School in Decatur, Alabama.

Beginning in fifth grade, I was in the band programs playing trumpet.

I attended Decatur High from 1984 through 1988, participating in marching, concert and jazz bands, as week as girls' and concert chorus.

I, then, went to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where I was a member of the Million Dollar Band and Symphonic Band until graduating in 1992.

My teaching career began in Baldwin County, Alabama, teaching 6th through 8th grade bands at Elberta and Summerdale Middle Schools for the 1993-1994 school year.

I returned home to Decatur to teach band in Morgan County at Eva and Lacey's Spring Middle Schools and serve as the Assistant Director at Brewer High School for the 1994-1996 school years.

From 1996 through 2011, I served as band director at Tanner High School in Limestone County.

In 2011, I transferred to the Elementary Music Teacher position serving Elkmont, East Limestone and Ardmore schools.

Since 1994, I serve as the Music Director at Ninth Street United Methodist Church in Decatur, Alabama.
