           All About Mrs. Looney

My kids - Sarah Beth, Kyle and Katherine                    Rex and Mitzi

This fall I will begin my 18th year at Johnson. I taught 1st grade for 16 years and 2nd grade for 1 year.  I love my job, my coworkers, my students and the friends I have made here (the parents!)   Before coming to Johnson, I taught 1st grade in Mobile County  for two years, and then taught kindergarten in Baldwin County for 7 years (30 minutes from the beach!)

My husband, Rex Looney and I have been married 31years.  Rex is the Associate Pastor/Minister of Worship at Crosspointe Church in Madison.  We have three children, Kyle, Katherine and Sarah Beth.

All three have been students in the Limestone County School System.  Kyle, Katherine, and Sarah Beth all graduated from East Limestone HS

- Kyle completed a degree in Music Industry Communications at Calhoun Community College, then worked as a director and worked with editing and programming at ZTV in Athens. He now is working at Lynn Layton Nissan. He is married to Lindsay and they have given us our first grandchild, Emma Ryan. Being a grandmother is alot of fun!!

-Katherine graduated from the University of Mobile in 2012 with a degree in History/Social Sciences. She is now married to Matthew Sparks and teaching history at Wilson Hall Middle School in Grove Hill, AL.

-Sarah Beth is a Senior at the University of North Alabama. She is majoring in secondary education with a concentration in Science. She completed her Kindergarten through 5th grade years here at Johnson with the best teachers in the world!

We have been involved in the band programs, sports programs, clubs, and extracurricular academic programs offered by our schools.  So, I can understand and sympathize with parents about how busy their lives are.  However, I sincerely hope that the academic success of the children always remains the priority.

I believe that all children are capable of taking responsibility for their behavior and their work at school.  Even in second grade, our major goal is not only to help students achieve their highest potential academically, but also in every aspect of their character.

I am looking forward to a great and successful year in second grade!!
